Never Give Up

Today I realized that great leaders are those who never give up on their dreams.

No matter how hard things seem, true leaders do not give up.

They find a way to maintain their relevance and they also persevere in the face of defeat!

I am committing to never giving up on my dreams ...no matter what comes my way!

3 Quick Business Tips for Small Business Success

I was asked today to give a quick tip for business success. Here is what I wrote:

All great coaching tips inspire us to ACT. Action is key to success. My coaching tip is easily remembered by the A.C.T. acronym.

A is for Anticipate the Future Trends. When a small business owner is able to study his/her industry and anticipate the trends, then the business owner can take action to leverage opportunities and plan specific strategies.

Resurrecting My Blog Commitment

Sometimes analysis paralysis gets the best of me!

I have all of these wonderful ideas about what I want to blog about but then with all that I have on my plate – I over analyze the content, how it will be received and how it may or may not impact my target audience.

Well – this is why I love Easter (which is a mere 8 days away!)…because I believe this season reminds me that I can resurrect (if you will) my commitments to ALL the things that may have taken a back seat to “busyness” !

L.O.V.E.: A Valentine’s Day Lesson on Leadership

I will admit that this blog post will be short, sweet and yes quite corny to most but sincere to me.

Today is Valentine’s Day…a day where most people think about love, falling in love, loving the ones in their inner circle…yes, that’s right…it’s all about love! No surprises there.

Unexpected Leadership Lessons from the The Help - the movie

Yesterday I took the day off to spend with my mother, who is an incredibly resilient 72-year old healthy African American woman who perseveres through even the toughest of times. We went to see the critically acclaimed summer sensational box office hit The Help featuring an incredible cast of women whose performances were absolutely perfect. Yes, I said Perfect.

Discipline, Determination & Dedication

After church this morning, the last thing that my body wanted to was go for a run as a part of my ING NYC Marathon training. I went for a run yesterday and was underperforming such that I stopped my jog just after 2 miles. Yesterday, I was a bit discouraged.

Labor Day and Leadership: The Perfect Couple

As Americans head into the Labor Day long weekend, I can't help to think about how we work and how we lead. This weekend is always billed as the last "hurrah" of summer and so many people kick up their heels and "vacation" somewhere memorable.

Marathon Lessons: Ready, Set, Focus!

I am a first time marathon runner...and of all the marathons in the world that I could have chosen as my first...I chose the NYC ING Marathon. So in just over 66 days, I will put my mind, body and soul to the test as I set out to run 26.2 miles throughout the 5 boroughs on New York City.

For the next 65 days, I will take to my blog to capture the lessons that I am learning (and earning) along my journey. Specifically, I will relate my lessons to leadership development, goal setting, determination, strategic planning, success and failure.
